Stress and Wellness Program
Our Annual Retainer Program offers first responder departments a flexible, confidential, and cost-effective way to provide essential behavioral health and evaluation services throughout the year. Departments purchase a customized annual retainer that can be allocated across a wide range of services based on their unique needs.
Covered services may include individual therapy, family and marital counseling, child and adolescent therapy, pre-employment evaluations, fitness-for-duty evaluations, critical incident debriefings, promotional testing, and medication management.
A key benefit of this program is confidentiality for employees seeking counseling services. First responders can access therapy and support without out-of-pocket costs and without the department being informed of who is utilizing services.
The retainer also streamlines administrative processes by eliminating the need to approve invoices or issue payments for each individual service. Instead, services are simply deducted from the department’s annual retainer balance as needed.
Each retainer agreement is fully customizable, negotiable, and tailored to meet the size, priorities, and budget of each department.
Fitness For Duty Evaluations
Fit for Duty Evaluations are designed to assess the emotional and psychological functioning of the employee as it pertains to their ability to safely and effectively conduct the duties associated with their position. This process entails meeting with the employee for a Clinical Interview (approx. 90 mins), after which objective data will be collected via psychometric testing (approx. 2-3 hours). Following the evaluative component, a report will be completed and sent to the requesting agency that outlines the testing results and the interpretation of the employee’s fitness for duty. Reports also include a recommendation section that outlines applicable interventions based on the employee’s status.
Pre-Employment Evaluations
Pre-Employment Evaluations are designed for potential employees with a conditional job offer to assess the emotional and psychological suitability of the potential employee as it pertains to their ability to safely and effectively conduct the duties associated with the position they are applying for. This process entails meeting with the employee for a Clinical Interview (approx. 60 mins), after which objective data will be collected via psychometric testing (approx. 2 hours). Following the evaluative component, a report will be completed and sent to the requesting agency that outlines the testing results and the interpretation of the employee’s suitability for duty.
Critical Incident Debriefings
Critical Incident Debriefings are designed to assess a first responder’s emotional stability
following a critical incident, and to provide psychoeducation that can be useful following such an
incident. Further, the department is provided with performance markers to be aware of following
the critical incident as well as any recommendations that may help the first responder cope. This
process entails meeting with the employee for a Clinical Interview (approx. 60 mins) and having
the employee complete some self-report assessments. After the interview, a letter will be
completed and sent to the requesting agency that outlines any recommendations that may assist
the first responder’s ability to cope with the critical incident as well as performance markers the
department should be vigilant of post-incident.
Therapy Services
Pulling from mindfulness-based practice, cognitive behavioral therapy, and advanced trauma reprocessing therapies, such as EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, we can work to reprocess emotional connections to the past, restructure maladaptive thinking patterns in the present, and learn how to cope with the unavoidable stressors of future.
